Do the Internet and the quest for Peace coexist harmoniously? It has been proposed in many circles that the Internet divides communities, waters down families, and alienates our younger generation from society. Certainly we live in challenging times, but the Internet can stand as a tool of Peace and not the opposite. The Global Community eXperience is one such vehicle that can assist in the process of spreading Global harmony and community interchange in a way that brings people into the circle and not away from it. There are many avenues for all aspects of our global society to communicate and coexist peacefully with each other. A major purpose behind the Global Community eXperience and its family of community websites is to promote personal and planetary Peace. We are exploring a diversity of ways and means for people to work together. We have been modeling applications and new directions for the incredible wealth of technology now available to us. Our second generation technology unveiled web movies and interviews with various local leaders that we archived for all to share. Panoramic movies helped highlight the streets of our flagship eXperience town, Los Gatos. Now the exciting world of 3-D virtual reality beckons. We can design whole communities right down to buildings and actual individuals that can virtually exist in web form. Conversations in Realtime can take place. Individuals can connect and maintain relationships both business and personal. One root of this GCX community project is a location called Peace Portal. This project was conceived in early 1997 to find ways for unrepresented Nations and Peoples to "speak our peace" using digital technology. Through the years the tools have been evolving, but the concept has stayed true to its original intent. The Internet can serve as an instrument to bring the world together through peaceful means. Peace is achieved through connection: with ourselves, with each other, and with the Universe. The Global Community eXperience strives to make this a reality.
